Mold material
Material requirements
1. High strength and hardness values. Tensile strength σb at room temperature≥1500 Mpa
2. High heat resistance. At the operating temperature (500 °C), the material yield strength σs≥1200Mpa
3. High stability. It has high oxidation stability at high temperatures and is not prone to oxide scale.
4. High wear resistance.
5. High punch toughness and fracture toughness value at room temperature and high temperature to prevent the mold from brittle breaking under low stress conditions or under impact load.
6. It has good hardenability
7. It has the adaptability to resist cold and heat
8. High thermal conductivity
9. Strong resistance to repeated cyclic stress
10. It has certain corrosion resistance and good nitriding characteristics
11. With small expansion coefficient and good creep resistance
12. Good process performance
At present, the commonly used material grades in China are: 4Cr5MoSiV1 (new) and 3Cr2W8V (old), and there is still a certain gap with the popular foreign die steel.
